Deshauna Barber is a top requested black, female motivational speaker. She is heavily inspired by Iyanla Vanzant and uses her own twist of comedy and story telling to inspire her audience. As a Top Female Speaker, Deshauna has made it her life goal to Encourage, Inspire and Strengthen the people around her. Deshauna is a survivor of child sexual abuse and wants to inspire other survivors to fight through fears of their past. Deshauna has overcome bullying and after the recent loss of her mother to cancer she wants to encourage people to focus on loving ourselves and the people around us.
Barber's debut self-help book "Pretty Ugly Lessons" is a self care, self love and self improvement book that is filled with life stories, life lessons and strategies to overcoming adversity.

Deshauna is on the board of directors at Service Women’s Action Network, the nation’s leading 501c3 nonprofit organization advocating on behalf of all service women and women veterans in the country.
Barber served her country for over 11 years. She commissioned as a Quartermaster Officer in 2011 and served her country proudly following the foots steps of her mother, father, sister and brother. Deshauna has a passion for our men and women in uniform. She has spent much of her career focused on advocating for soldiers suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).
On June 5th 2016, Deshauna was crowned the first Miss USA to actively serve in the United States military. She spent her reign partnering with the USO, Smiletrain, Best Buddies, Operation Homefront and numerous organizations that focus on the betterment of people around the world. Deshauna has a bachelors degree in Business Management and a masters degree in Computer Information Systems and Services. She has worked in the government for over 5 years and recently left her IT Analyst position at Department of Commerce to become Miss USA 2016.
